By Battery Type

Lithium-ion is the most popular type of battery and is ideal for e-bikes. It has the perfect combination of overall weight and capacity. They offer higher cell efficiency and greater battery capacity. Lithium-ion batteries have twice the voltage and three times the capacity of lead-acid batteries. This makes this segment the fastest in the market. The lead acid segment is the second largest market. Features such as low cost and ease of recycling have ensured this segment's dominance in the market.

By Class

The Class 1 segment has the largest market share due to its long battery life, low maintenance and users can choose from three to five types of pedal assists depending on the model.
